Wiegand Farm Golf Classic Moves to Sussex County

The Wiegand Farm Golf Classic is one of the biggest golf outings in the state of New Jersey.  In 2017, it will be making the move from Jefferson Township to Crystal Springs Resort in Vernon.  With over 250 golfers expected, it’s sure to be an exciting day.

The Power of the Powerless

The Power of the Powerless

For 32 years, the severely disabled Oliver de Vinck spent his days in his bed.  In 1980, the helpless young man captured the attention of president Ronald Reagan and so many people around the world since then.  33 years after Oliver’s death, he helped kick start a fruitful partnership between St. Paul Inside the Walls and the Department for Persons with Disabilities.

The General Judson Kilpatrick Knights of Columbus #5563 based at St. Francis de Sales Church in Vernon raised over $5,000 for the Department for Persons with Disabilities through their annual disabilities drive.

Nicholson Family and Eastern Propane named Humanitarians of the Year at the 39th Annual Wiegand Farm Golf Classic.  The event helped raise over $80,000 for adults with developmental disabilities.

DPD is proud to announce the launch of its new program, “Saturdays at the Center.”  Saturdays at the Center is designed specifically developmentally disabled young adults, ages 21 to 39, interested in weekend socialization and recreational activities with peers.

Soup Kitchen Gets Handmade Centerpieces for its Tables

Residents and staff members from the Department for Persons with Disabilities dropped off new centerpieces at the Community Soup Kitchen in Morristown. The centerpieces were handmade by members of the Wallace House in Sparta and other members of the Fight for the Right Community Service Group, made up of residents from the DPD who have organized together to volunteer in the community.
